“The Last Tree” Stars Honoured at the British Independent Film Awards
Lead actor of “The Last Tree”, Sam Adewunmi clinched the “Most Promising Newcomer” award at the just ended British Independent Film Awards. His co-star, Ruthxjiah Bellenea was also adjudged the best-supporting actress.
The two were each presented with customized trophies created by British designers Fredrikson Stallard in collaboration with Swarovski.
Adewunmi played Femi, while Bellenea starred as his classmate in The Last Three, a semi-autobiographical feature film written and directed by Shola Amoo.

Set in England and Nigeria, The Last Three follows the life of Femi who is fostered by an English white woman living in the east of England, before being reunited with his Nigerian mother based in London.
The film captures Femi’s struggle with his identity and his relationship with his mother, played by Gbemisola Ikumelo.
